Social Care Impact Awards

We are proud to announce the launch of our Social Care Impact Awards, which we have created to identify, recognise and reward small organisations doing exceptional work in social care.

Are you a small user-led organisation, or a small voluntary or community organisation that works in social care? Do you need support with quality, efficiency or improvement or perhaps with your safeguarding processes, but haven’t got the budget for this?

Why not submit an entry to our free to enter Social Care Impact Awards and be in for a chance to win one of our 39 prizes?

Why are we doing this?

As a not-for-profit independent and impartial charity, the Social Care Institute for Excellence (SCIE) is driven by improving social care for adults and children. From over 20 years’ experience, we bring a wealth of trusted, evidence-based expertise to work collaboratively to help transform care, and our staff bring immense depth of expertise and passion for the cause, based on frontline work and years of broad experience.

By launching our Social Care Impact Awards we hope to support those organisations that would not ordinarily have budget available to commission our services.

What is the benefit to you?

We are looking for small organisations doing brilliant, impactful work that we can support by providing our relevant innovative consultancy or expert training services free of charge.

Through our consultancy, we work with you to identify and implement improvements, ranging from digital transformation and use of co-production through to safeguarding reviews and support. Our training can be bespoke, online or face-to-face learning and development.

What are the judges looking for?

Please demonstrate how your organisation supports SCIE’s vision of a society which enables people who receive social care to live fulfilling lives. For example, please include impact evidence of at least one of the following areas (please note these are a guide, you do not need to demonstrate them all):

Co-production: Working in partnership by sharing power between people who draw on care and support, carers, families and citizens.

  • Meaningful involvement of people with lived experience
  • Shared decision-making between professionals and people with lived experience
  • Creative ways to include diverse voices.

Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI): Valuing everyone as an individual and ensuring everyone has the same opportunities and is treated fairly. Recognising different backgrounds, knowledge, skills and experiences.

  • Addressing inequities
  • Removing barriers to access
  • Diverse representation in decision-making
  • Services that reflect different needs.

Digitalisation: Using digital technologies to make improvements.

  • Inclusive technology for people with lived experience
  • Technology that improves care delivery
  • Safe and ethical digital solutions
  • Potential for wider use.

SCIE is keen to encourage entries from a diversity of organisations that support people from under-represented backgrounds, e.g. people from ethnic minority communities, disabled people and people from the LGBTQ+ communities.

Entry deadline and award timeframes

The deadline for entries is 9am on Wednesday 28 May 2025.

Winning organisations will be notified by Friday 20 June 2025.

Winning organisations will be announced in media and social media, as well as our e-newsletter SCIELine, with a reach of around 130,000 recipients across the sector. The winners of the 1st and 2nd prizes will also be invited to an event on 2 July 2025 in London where they will be presented with their award. Travel expenses will be covered by SCIE.

SCIE have worked with EY on a pro-bono basis for some of the planning and design of our Social Care Impact Awards. We are grateful for their support and EY are proud to play a small role supporting innovation and best practice in social care.
